Something interesting is happening to me…
If there’s one thing you’ll learn about me, it’s that I love to learn. I really do. I love learning new things in all kinds of categories. From technical things like how to design futuristic websites to practical things like how to peel boiled eggs more efficiently – I’m a sponge for knowledge.
One thing that I’ve found that helps me learn faster has been training my mind to intake knowledge at a faster rate. There are a number of things that I practice to help me accomplish this, but what I want to talk about today is the idea of watching videos at 2x speed. I also listen to podcasts at 2x speed. (Or sometimes 1.75x depending on how fast the person talks.)
This isn’t necessarily a new habit for me, but I’d say for the past two years or so it’s become much more consistent.
At first, it was hard to keep up with the content, but over time it’s become second nature to me and the interesting thing that’s happening to me now is that I feel like life is starting to move in slow motion.
When I watch a video or listen to a podcast at normal speed, it literally feels like it’s just dragging along in slow motion. I find even in real life, sometimes when I’m having a conversation with someone, that it feels like it’s moving super slow.
You know how in some of those superhero movies they have scenes where everything slows down and the superhero is still moving at normal speed, able to focus on all the small details? That’s how I feel a lot of the time (minus being a superhero.)
But I don’t know, maybe this is a superpower? What do you think? Do you ever do this? Let me know in the comments!
